The leading Italian Food & Wine Media Company Gambero Rosso launches its Top Italian Wines Roadshow. It is the sixth world tour of its kind, spotlighting some of Italy’s best wines for an international public. The events will feature more than fifty top-flight major wineries and more than 200 wines
that represent Italy’s wine heritage at its best. From Seoul to Sao Paulo, and from Osaka to Bangkok (for the first time) and Singapore: with events all around the world, this tour will represent Italy’s finest in a global setting. And it will make its final appearances in two South American cities, visiting Rio de Janeiro and São Paolo.

 CALENDAR AND PARTICIPATING WINERIES

Walk around tastings, workshops and masterclasses guided by Marco Sabellico, senior wine editor of Vini d’Italia, together with a local opinion leader are a regular Roadshow feature. The target audience is traders, press and bloggers. Around 5,000 people attended the events last year, putting together producers, winemakers and winelovers around the world. The Roadshows are an important opportunity for cultural exchange, an unmissable chance to forge new commercial bonds, and a crucial test for the cohesiveness of Italy’s national wine scene.

In 2011, for the first time in history, exported wines exceeded wines consumed within Italian borders. Gambero Rosso, in its role of embessador for Italian wines, is devoted to promote top quality production. Last year the show expanded to include a series of events in Asia and South America, reflecting the new realities of the global wine market. In many cases, it was a straordinary debut appearance for Italian wines. This year there are as many as 4 stops in Asia which is becoming the crucial market for Italian Wines.

Within Italy, wine consumption has long been stable, while international demand is rising. For example, wine consumption of imported wines in Asia is expected to grow + 58% until 2015. The tour will include some of the up-coming winehubs like South Korea, where Italian wine exports grew 65% between 2006 and 2010. As well as Thailand, that is linving a new wine devolution, in terms of rising comsumptions, thanks also to the 15 milions visitors which every year choose Thailand for vacation.

Italian wines with their savoury, their sharp freshness, crispy acidity, in one word with their Mediterranean character, offer a wide range of serving and pairing possibilities. Come to discover the immense patrimony of wine grapes which thrive all around the Italian peninsula. Over 200 Wines, 60 wineries, 6 metropolises, 2 continents and one single feature: quality.
