2 Nov 2011, 09:59 | a cura di

Ms. Alessandra Schiavo, Consul General of Italy in Hong Kong and Macao, Mr. Salerno, CEO of the Gambero Rosso Association and Mr. Sabellico, editor of the most authoritative guide to Italian wines “Vini d’Italia”, will celebrate the release of its 1st Chinese edition, published by Gambero Rosso.
The launch will take place

on 2nd November 2011 at 2 p.m. at Ballroom of the Island Shangri-la Hotel, Pacific Place, Hong Kong, as part of a series of many events and initiatives aimed at promoting Italian wine in the Region in conjunction with the Hong Kong Wine & Spirits Fair 2011 (3-5/11/2011), where Italy is the partner country and participates with around 200 wineries.
The presentation of the guidebook will be followed by a walkaround wine tasting of 100 “Tre Bicchieri” (three glasses) wines (3 p.m. – 8 p.m.).

Italy is one of the leading producing countries in the world and Italian wines have been growing in stature for decades. The expanding economy and larger consumer base in Asia and Mainland China have obviously exercised a strong appeal on the wine sector and the Chinese translation of the guidebook fits perfectly into a wider project to promote Italian wine culture and export opportunities in the Region. After all, in the first five months of 2011 only the demand for Italian wine in Mainland China increased by 126% and everything points towards digits that will consolidate this trend in the future.
The translation is a rich and informative follow-up to the best-selling Italian guidebook and has been purpose-written to educate the emerging Chinese wine lovers and enthusiasts about the wondrous world of Italian wines.

By avoiding complicated classifications and terminology, this guide offers genuine information and knowledge, which is presented simply and therefore pleasurably. All wines are classified by quality and awarded 1 to 3 glasses, depending on their assessment, and informative notes are also provided on the many listed wineries.
It is a must-buy for all Chinese-speaking wine lovers who crave to know more but are a little overwhelmed by the incredibly rich wine and varied heritage of Italy.
The Chinese edition of “Vini d’Italia” is also a clear response to an ever increasing demand in China and the Asian region for Italian quality wines and an essential “door-opening” tool for wine operators and businessmen to access the ever growing market in the Asia.
