Everyone who lives in Shanghai knows Da Marco. They now have more than one branch in the city, but the original location is the best. Da Marco's is one of the few decent quality Italian restaurants which does not charge an arm and a leg. The owner/chef Marco opened this place nearly 20 years ago, he is the pioneer who was brave enough to introduce Italian cusine to then just opened chinese society, his restaurant has been an institution for decades promoting authentic Italian cusine and chefs, also deeply loved by all the Italian expats, some even name it 'little Italy' in shanghai. Chef de cusine Max is a perfect example of younger generation chefs natured by Marco, stick to the tradition but with a little modern twist, he is keeping this place thriving in a very challenging metropolitan city. Seafood pasta and risotto are among his classic. We also suggest the impepata di cozze e vongole (pepperd mussels and clams pot), or the delicious, no frills grilled chicken served with big potatoes, carrots and Brussel sprouts. The wine list is extensive, the atmoshere is just homey.
